STG and Schlumbergersema Join Forces to Provide Secure Wireless Solutions to Federal Agencies

Fairfax, VA, September 16, 2002 -- STG, a top government IT services provider, today announced it has signed an agreement with SchlumbergerSema, a business unit of Schlumberger Limited and leading IT services provider, to deliver highly secure wireless solutions to U.S. federal government and defense agencies.

The teaming of the two companies allows clients to leverage procurement of the Schlumberger DeXa.Mobile* Enterprise Office Suite (EOS) through STG’s 17 Government Wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) vehicles.

“Vulnerabilities of wireless security are a major concern among government agencies.  Several agencies have committed to using wireless PDAs but have not been able to resolve the potential loss of security,” said Michael Carter, Director of Homeland Security for STG.  “DeXa.Mobile EOS provides a highly secure environment for messaging and any custom applications that addresses, if not eliminates, most of these security concerns.

Scalable and flexible across multiple devices and networks, the DeXa.Mobile EOS securely delivers wireless connectivity to enterprise applications such as e-mail, calendar and directory access, and integrates multiple applications, protocols, and devices through a common wireless business platform.

The DeXa.Mobile EOS can use Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technology, the highest level of security, to ensure the integrity of sensitive data exchanged between the device and agency databases. These high levels of security can prevent breaches of wireless PDAs with sensitive and proprietary data which otherwise could jeopardize national security.

The DeXa.Mobile solution also offers remote device management features that allow administrators to perform functions such as remotely locking devices or erasing their contents.

“These special features are significant in case of loss, theft or other security breaches,” commented Juan Arguello, marketing director for SchlumbergerSema Telecommunications.  “Our solution offered through STG will provide agencies in the federal government with options for secure wireless communications.”
