President and CEO of STG, Inc., Simon Lee, is Recipient of KBS Great Overseas Korean Award

January 19, 2005, Reston, VA
– The Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) has recognized Simon S. Lee, President and CEO of STG, Inc., for his life-long contributions to Korean national image and pride through his achievements in foreign countries, namely the United States . The Overseas Korean Award is the most prestigious honor the Korean government can bestow upon a Korean-born individual, awarded only to the most prominent overseas Koreans in major regions of the world (North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Arab/Africa). Mr. Lee was one of only five recipients worldwide.

KBS selected the award winners after reviewing 70 overseas Korean applicants from 19 countries. This award culminates with a face-to-face meeting with South Korean President, Roh Moo-hyun, and a 25 minutes long exclusive documentary on Simon Lee that will air on a primetime KBS broadcast. The formal awards ceremony is planned for March 4, 2005 at KBS's head office in Seoul, Korea.

KBS recognized Mr. Lee, who emigrated to the U.S. from South Korea in 1979, for completing a long journey full of personal challenges that he overcame while bringing great honor to his home country. For many years, Mr. Lee carried a heavy burden of facing a new business culture in America, learning a foreign language, providing for a wife, raising a family, securing a job, building a lasting income, and gaining new technical skills.

After years of personal struggle, Mr. Lee placed himself and his family at risk to launch STG, Inc. in 1986. He relentlessly executed his vision and strategy to build STG into the world-class technology firm that it is today. His approach to leading with his heart and treating employees like a family allowed him to overcome the toughest of obstacles. Along this long journey, he received a series of recognitions via prestigious awards such as the 2003 Ellis Island Medal of Honor, which has been bestowed on past Presidents, Supreme Court Justices and U.S. Generals. In 2001, he received the Pan-Asian American Excellence Award, which promotes the many accomplishments of Asian Americans. Past honorees include Elaine Chao, the Nation’s 24 th Secretary of Labor.

Now, after more than 26 years, the Korean government has recognized Mr. Lee. The latest honor by KBS serves as the ultimate recognition for Mr. Lee’s life-long accomplishments, and brings a certain level of full-circle closure to Mr. Lee’s achievements between two great countries.

Today, his company, STG, is a prosperous $170 million company that has provided the Federal Government with nearly two decades of performance-based IT, homeland security, engineering, and scientific services.
