STG Awarded $25 Million Contract from the Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
STG to Continue Mission Support for the National Climatic Data Center

Reston VA —February 27, 2006—STG announced today that it has been awarded the Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) Mission Support Services Contract.  This contract, which continues STG’s five-year history with the NCDC, was awarded under a GSA Blanket Purchase Agreement and is worth $25 million over a 5-year period.

The National Climatic Data Center, located in Asheville, NC , is the world's largest active archive of weather data.   NCDC’s IT infrastructure is critical in the success of its operations and climate research activities. Under this contract, STG’s team of IT, scientific, and administrative professionals are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the infrastructure and the production of scientific Analyzes that support NCDC’s climatic research.

Tom Karl, director for NOAA’s NCDC said, “The Mission Support Contract includes several functions that are vital to the on-going operations and continuing success of our Center.  We expect the strong NCDC-STG partnership that has developed over the past 5 years to continue to grow during the coming contract performance period.”

NCDC's mission is to manage the Nation's global climatological data and information to promote global environmental stewardship; to describe, monitor and assess the climate; and to support efforts to predict changes in the Earth's environment. To meet this mission, NCDC receives, processes, and archives environmental data from satellite and in situ observation networks and provides access to users around the world.

“STG has partnered with NCDC to create a team that is responsive to the NCDC mission,” said Paul Fernandes, STG federal sector senior vice president. “We will continue to provide the highest quality climate information-related archive, access, and assessment services for NCDC’s customers.”

“STG is honored to once again be part of the NCDC team—our experienced staff and innovative approaches will continue to exceed NCDC’s evolving mission needs and deliver cost-effective results,” said Simon Lee, president and CEO at STG.
