STG Awarded $5 Million Telecommunications Contract from EPA

Reston, VA, February 23, 2006—STG, Inc., a leading provider of information technology, technical security, engineering, and scientific services announced an award from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide IT and telecommunications for the EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality (OTAQ) Laboratory Operations Division (LOD), Data & Quality Management Group (DQMG) in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  This 5-year contract is valued at $5 million and was awarded to STG under their Veterans Affairs Global Information Technology Support Services (GITSS) prime contract.

STG will be responsible for the design, development, operation and maintenance of the voice, data, and video systems for both the Ann Arbor office and laboratory buildings. OTAQ protects public health and the environment by controlling air pollution from motor vehicles, engines, and the fuels used to operate them, and by encouraging travel choices that minimize emissions.

“We are honored to support this important customer with their telecommunications needs,” said Paul Fernandes, STG federal sector vice president.  Simon Lee, STG president and CEO added, “We are especially proud of our employees who continue to provide leading solutions and dedicated onsite support.”

For the last 5 years, STG has provided EPA with innovative telecommunications support services including analysis, design, and implementation of large-scale improvements for EPA's voice, data, and video communications systems.

Richard Parsons, EPA project officer commented, “Maintaining robust telecommunications is a critical aspect of the EPA mission. We look forward to working again with STG and their continued provision of proven, innovative telecommunications solutions and support.”

To meet the growing homeland security requirements of the EPA, STG developed an emergency communications system which allows the director to communicate with all EPA headquarters’ employees in times of emergency.  STG provides the emergency audio communications for the EPA Continuity of Operations center, and maintains the inventory of Blackberry devices which provide wireless data and voice communications.
